Carts of Darkness nun komplett!

Erinnert ihr euch noch an die Doku “Carts of Darkness“, die mit den obdachlosen Downhill-Einkaufswagen-Racern? Ich bloggte darüber und zeigte euch einen ersten Trailer.

Nun ist es endlich soweit und die Dokumentation ist komplett und das beste ist, sie ist online!

Die ofizielle Website beschreibt den Film folgendermaßen:

In the picture-postcard community of North Vancouver, filmmaker Murray Siple follows men who have turned bottle-picking, their primary source of income, into the extreme sport of shopping cart racing.
Enduring hardships from everyday life on the streets of Vancouver, this sub-culture depicts street life as much more than stereotypes portrayed in mainstream media. The films takes a deep look into the lives of the men who race carts, the adversity they face, and the appeal of cart racing despite the risk.

Das National Film Board of Canada hostet diesen wunderbaren Film “über Obdachlose, die nicht nur Posten im behördlichen Sozialjargon sind, sondern die zu Wort kommen – in ihrer eigenen Sprache, und die gezeigt werden – beim Spaßhaben! beim Leben! beim Überleben!”

Die ganze Dokumentation macht nicht nur Spaß sie anzuschaun, sondern auch nachdenklich, wie besonders die 40. Minute, als eine Darstellerin olgendes sagt: Ab Minute 40 sagt Fergie, einer der Protagonisten, folgende wahren Worte:

‘Wheel’. That’s the way i usually start all my songs, this is ‘wheel’ because, if you don’t play… if you don’t say ‘wheel’ it ain’t me.

Pretty little baby on the cabin floor
Little hoss colt playin’ ’round the door
I love the girl with golden hair
And the Tennessee stud loves the Tennessee mare

A’ight, I fucked it up, man.

So, Fergie, da you have after all this, do you have regrets?

I have… no. You can’t have regrets in this life. You can’t because shit happens to everyboy right, you know that, shit happens. Buddy, you know… Its not easy being me. Its not easy being us.

Die Website vom National Film Board of Canada muss man sich sowieso mal genauer anschauen, die haben da dutzende mindestens interessant aussehende Dokus, Filme und Animationen.
